Moon Discusses N. Korea Issue with Leaders of France, Australia

President Moon Jae-in has spoken to French President Emmanuel Macron and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull about ways to respond to North Korea’s recent nuclear test.
Presidential Spokesman Park Soo-hyun said that Moon and Macron discussed the issue during a 20-minute phone call Monday afternoon.
Moon sought France’s continuous and active efforts to impose further sanctions on the North and show the international community’s stern will against its nuclear and missile programs.
According to Park, Macron said in response that he shares Moon’s view of the situation and supports South Korea's policy toward the North. He also promised to actively cooperate in ongoing discussions at the UN Security Council to punish the North.
Moon also spoke on the phone with Australian Prime Minister Turnbull, and pointed out that the North’s nuclear test poses a serious challenge to the peace and safety of the international community.
Turnbull expressed sympathy with Moon’s remark, and said Canberra will strengthen its pressure on Pyongyang, including implementing UNSC resolutions.
