UNSC to Hold Emergency Session over N. Korea's Missile Launch

The UN Security Council(UNSC) will hold an emergency session to discuss North Korea's latest missile provocation early on Saturday Korean time.

South Korea, the U.S. and Japan reportedly called the meeting right after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan at 6:57 a.m. Friday. The missile fell into the North Pacific Ocean.

The North's latest provocation came just three days after the UNSC adopted Resolution 2375 to impose tougher sanctions against the North over its sixth nuclear test.

Attention is being drawn to whether the Security Council will discuss fresh sanctions against Pyongyang in the closed session.
