Defense Minister Song Young-moo visited a frontline unit on Thursday to encourage soldiers and check their military readiness.

At a guard post managed by the Army’s Sixth Infantry Division on the border, Song cheered the soldiers keeping on high alert amid heightened tension fueled by North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations.

Song emphasized that the military should respond to a provocation from the enemy immediately, forcibly and completely so that the enemy would not provoke again.

The minister also requested accompanying National Assembly National Defense Committee head, Representative Kim Young-woo, to work for the parliament to improve the working conditions of the soldiers.
