WP: N. Korea Taps Republican-linked Analysts to Understand Trump

The Washington Post says that North Korean officials have been quietly trying to arrange talks with Republican-linked analysts in Washington to understand President Donald Trump and his confusing messages.
The U.S. daily reported on Tuesday that to get a better understanding of American intentions, North Korea's mission to the UN invited Bruce Klinger, a former CIA analyst who is now the Heritage Foundation's top expert on North Korea, to visit Pyongyang for meetings.
The report said that North Korean intermediaries also approached Douglas Paal, who served as an Asia expert on the National Security Council under presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush and is now vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
However, these experts turned down the North's request to arrange talks between North Koran officials and American experts with Republican ties in a neutral location such as Switzerland.
