WFP: N. Koreans' Daily Ration in August Only Half of UN Recommendation

As the international community is strengthening sanctions on North Korea over its nuclear weapons program, the regime is reportedly struggling to provide enough daily rations for its population.
The Voice of America(VOA) reported on Wednesday quoting the UN World Food Program(WFP) that North Korean authorities distributed 300 grams of daily rations per person last month, matching its lowest level posted in July.
The news agency said the quantity of daily rations lags far behind the Pyongyang government’s target level of 573 grams per day and is only half of the minimum level recommended by the UN of 600 grams.
