A North Korean foreign ministry official has held talks with the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large Oleg Burmistrov.
 
Choe Son-hui, director general for North American Affairs at the North’s Foreign Ministry, met with the Russian ambassador Friday morning at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
 
The closed-door meeting lasted for four hours with no media access.
 
In a press release after the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the two sides exchanged extensive opinions regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.
 
The ministry affirmed that Russia is ready to respond to joint efforts to resolve regional issues in a peaceful, political and diplomatic way, including through making progress to tackle the North Korea issue in a step-by-step road map that was jointly proposed by Russia and China.
