UN Places Port Ban on 4 Vessels for Violating UN Sanctions Against N. Korea

The UN has imposed a global port ban on four vessels that violated UN sanctions against North Korea.
The French news agency AFP reported Monday the ban, imposed by the Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea, went into effect last Thursday.
Hugh Griffiths, coordinator of the UN Security Council's Panel of Experts Pursuant to Resolution 1874, told AFP the ships were found "transporting prohibited goods."
AFP cites a source close to the matter saying the ships were found with coal, seafood and iron ore, exports banned by a UN resolution adopted in August.
