Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on the phone Monday that Moscow cannot stand for any escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula that may result from U.S. military preparations in the region.
 
Media reports say Lavrov urged a diplomatic solution to all problems regarding the situation on the peninsula.
 
He also reiterated Moscow’s demand for the return of Russian diplomatic compounds in the U.S. which were seized by the Obama administration late last year. 

The move was part of U.S. sanctions against Moscow over its alleged hacking into the Democratic National Committee's computers to influence the 2016 presidential election.
