Anchor: A robust show of newly deployed force to the Korean Peninsula region, along with announcements from the White House, suggest U.S. President Donald Trump is looking very closely at possible military options for dealing with North Korea.

Report: The White House says U.S. President Donald Trump received a briefing Tuesday from Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford.
 
A White House statement says the discussion “focused on a range of options to respond to any form of North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent North Korea from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons.” 
 
That comes as more heavy military hardware is starting to show up in the region.
 
On Tuesday night, U.S. B-1B Lancer bombers from Guam flew with South Korean fighter jets over the Korean Peninsula in a joint air-to-ground missile firing simulation in the East Sea.
 
U.S. Pacific Command confirms that a few days earlier, the USS Tucson, a Los Angeles-class nuclear powered submarine, entered the South Korean port of Jinhae in South Gyeongsang Province as part of a redeployment.
 
A second submarine, the Ohio-class USS Michigan, is scheduled to arrive in the Port of Busan around this weekend, according to a South Korean military official.
 
The Michigan is capable of conducting underwater operations for more than three months, and is equipped with about 150 Tomahawk cruise missiles, making it capable of striking targets on land.
 
Next week, the U.S. nuclear-powered supercarrier, USS Ronald Reagan is also scheduled to arrive in South Korea, carrying some 70 aircraft, including F/A-18 fighter jets. The aircraft carrier is to be accompanied by Aegis destroyers and missile cruisers.
 
Another major U.S. aircraft carrier, the USS Theodore Roosevelt, has left San Diego for missions in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East that could potentially include the Korean Peninsula.
 
Some experts are viewing the massive show of force, including the unprecedented simultaneous deployment of two nuclear-powered submarines to the region, as a signal aimed at North Korea.
