JCS Chairman: New Wartime Operational Plans under Consideration

The Chairman of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Jeong Kyeong-doo told lawmakers Monday Seoul and Washington are drafting new supplementary joint wartime operational plans against North Korea.
Jeong said the new plans are being envisioned "in the face of the North's new advanced threats based on the recalibration of the overall conditions, including South Korea's capabilities."
He cautioned the new plans have yet to be confirmed, and that discussions with the United States are ongoing.
Jeong said the earlier war plans, known as OPLAN 5015 and OPLAN 5027, remain effective despite speculations the military secrets containing them were leaked in cyberwarfare attacks presumed to be conducted by the North.
