VOA: US Can't Accept N. Korea's Satellite Launches

The U.S. State Department has reaffirmed that the U.S. cannot accept even satellite launches by North Korea.

Grace Choi, spokesperson for the department’s East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau, told the Voice of America(VOA) on Wednesday that all launches using ballistic missile technology are in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

The spokesperson also called on Pyongyang to carry out a complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of its ballistic missile program.

The comment came after North Korea's Deputy UN Ambassador Kim In-ryong announced his country's plan to launch more satellites.

Kim said on Wednesday during a UN General Assembly committee meeting that the country's five-year plan includes the development of practical satellites that can contribute to the economic development and improvement of the people's living.

He claimed that North Korea's space development activities are "all ground on legal basis in all aspects," but the U.S. is going frantic to illegalize the North's development of outer space.
