Stephens: War on Korean Peninsula Must Be Prevented

The former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Kathleen Stephens is joining mounting calls for action to prevent war on the Korean Peninsula at all cost.
Stephens spoke on the issue in an interview with Seoul-based Yonhap News Wednesday on the sidelines of a Korea Economic Institute of America event in Washington, D.C.
She said it it possible to prevent war, but also expressed great concern about the war of words between the U.S. and North Korea.
The former top envoy added that it would be better for President Donald Trump to avoid making an overt threat against North Korea, pointing out it could cause misjudgment and misunderstanding.
When asked if she had any advice to give to Trump ahead of his state visit to South Korea, Stephens said he should stop tweeting.
