Myanmar Expels N. Korean Diplomat

Myanmar has expelled a North Korean diplomat in line with U.N. sanctions on the communist country.

According to the country's report posted on the Web site for the UN Security Council's sanctions committee on North Korea, the government of Myanmar took necessary action against Kim Chol Nam, a second secretary at the North Korean embassy in Yangon.

The report said Kim was known to belong to the Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation blacklisted by the UN Security Council.

The report said he left Myanmar in June after being ordered to leave the Southeast Asian country in April.

The North Korean company was placed on a UNSC blacklist in 2009 for exporting equipment related to ballistic missiles and conventional weapons.
