VOA: Several Buildings Spotted Near N. Korea Missile Launch Site

Voice of America reported Saturday that recent satellite imagery shows North Korea has been constructing buildings whose purpose remains unclear next to its missile launch site on the west coast.

VOA said the satellite images were taken on October second using Google Earth by the aircraft firm Airbus and the French government space agency CNES(Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales).

The images are of the Dongchang-ri missile launch site in North Korea's North Pyongan Province.

The report said that two 30-meter-long buildings, at least one-story high, are seen on a construction site some 30 meters west of the launch site.

A concrete structure consisting of six to seven rooms is found between the two buildings as it appears to be the foundation for another building.

VOA said another smaller structure has also been built.

It added there is a missile launch pad covered in camouflage some 200 meters away from this construction site.
