White House: No Plans to Seek Carter's Help on N. Korea

The White House said Friday that it has no plans for now to seek former President Jimmy Carter's help to resolve the North Korean nuclear crisis.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told a briefing that she doesn't believe that idea is part of their process at this time when asked if the administration plans to take up Carter's offer to visit Pyongyang.
She said that if that changes she would let reporters know, but that it is not part of the administration's current plan or thinking for how to deal with North Korea.
In an interview with the New York Times last Sunday, Carter expressed his willingness to visit the North to help resolve the nuclear standoff.
He said he had told President Donald Trump's national security adviser H.R. McMaster that he was available if needed but has so far received a negative response.
