Malaysian PM: Ties with N. Korea Under Review

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak says his country is reviewing its fundamental relationship with North Korea and taking steps to sever diplomatic ties with the regime.
According to The Star, a Malaysian daily, on Monday, Prime Minister Najib told parliament of the steps being taken in response to an inquiry by a Malaysian lawmaker regarding the country’s dealings with the North. This follows the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year.
He wrote that Malaysia has abided by UN resolutions on the North, including sending back North Korean diplomatic officers in Malaysia, adding the government is reviewing its links to the North, “including diplomatic, political and economic relations.”
The prime minister said his government considering closing its embassy in Pyongyang, and relegating its service to the Malaysian embassy in Beijing.
