A Japanese broadcaster is reporting that an underground tunnel being built at North Korea’s nuclear test site collapsed in the wake of the regime’s latest nuclear test, possibly killing around 200 people.

TV Asahi on Tuesday quoted a North Korean source as saying the collapse occurred on September tenth at the construction site of an underground tunnel within the Punggye-ri nuclear test site.

It said around 100 people were trapped following the initial collapse, but an additional collapse might have buried them, along with around 100 rescuers.

The report said the collapses appeared to have been caused by the North’s sixth nuclear test on September third as it could have weakened the surrounding ground.
