Seoul: Closely Coordinating with US on N. Korea Dialogue

The Foreign Ministry said that South Korea will continue close coordination with the U.S. so that inter-Korean dialogue and dialogue between North Korea and the U.S. can complement each other.
In a regular briefing Thursday, ministry spokesman Noh Kyu-duk said he's aware of news reports that the U.S. is pushing for direct diplomacy with North Korea.
Noh said that Seoul and Washington are closely consulting on all issues related to North Korea and its nuclear program in order to achieve the shared goal of a complete dismantlement of North Korean nuclear weapons in a peaceful manner under the firm principle of zero tolerance on North Korean nukes.
Citing a senior State Department official, Reuters reported Tuesday U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Joseph Yun has been in contact with diplomats at the North Korean mission to the United Nations.
The report said the U.S. is quietly pursuing direct diplomacy with Pyongyang.
