Pres. Moon Calls for Enhanced Cooperation with NATO

President Moon Jae-in has expressed hope for enhanced cooperation between South Korea and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO).

Moon met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the top office on Thursday.

During his talks with Stoltenberg, who earlier visited the truce village of Panmunjeom inside the demilitarized zone(DMZ), Moon stressed the need for bilateral military cooperation, noting the tense security situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Emphasizing the DMZ is less than 45 kilometers north of Seoul, the president said Pyongyang's repeated nuclear and missile provocations are escalating tensions on the peninsula and the wider region.

Stoltenberg said he was impressed to see many South Korean soldiers at the DMZ serving with loyalty for peace, not only for South Korea, but for the whole world.
