WMO: Low Rainfall Worsens N. Korea's Food Security

The UN weather agency has reportedly said that this year's low rainfall has worsened North Korea's food security.
U.S-based Radio Free Asia reported on Wednesday that the World Meteorological Organization(WMO) presented the assessment in its statement on the state of climate in 2017.
The WMO statement said that the rainfall in North Korea was repeatedly below the average especially between April and June, which caused a negative impact on the yield of the North's major crops such as corn and rice and thus affected its food security.
Citing a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the weather agency said that 20 percent of livestock in the drought areas was severely affected by the low precipitation.
