Trump Warns N. Korea in Speech at National Assembly

Anchor: For the first time in 24 years, a U.S. president has delivered a speech at South Korea’s National Assembly. Donald Trump lauded South Korea’s remarkable success but had harsh words and warnings for North Korea regarding human rights abuses and weapons development.

"This reality, this wonderful place, your success, is the greatest cause of anxiety, alarm and even panic to the North Korean regime."
Speaking at South Korea’s legislature, he blasted Kim Jong-un as a cruel dictator and North Korea as a brutal regime that rules the people “as a cult” and suppresses their human rights.

"Do not underestimate us. Do not try us. We will defend our common security, our shared prosperity, and our sacred liberty."
He told North Korea not to test the resolve of the U.S. with its nuclear and missile development, stressing that the U.S. will not allow American cities to be threatened with destruction.
He added that the U.S. will not allow a repeat of a war on the Korean Peninsula for which U.S. soldiers fought and died to secure.
He stressed that he believes the U.S.’ alliance with South Korea will continue to be strong in the future.
The comprehensive speech lasted for about 35 minutes after which Trump made his way to the Seoul National Cemetery to pay respects to martyrs and patriots.
He then left for his next stop Beijing, China from the Osan Air Base.
