House Resolution Guarantees N. Korea Bright Future if it Scraps Nuke Ambitions

A resolution that guarantees North Korea a bright future if it scraps its nuclear weapons program has been submitted to the U.S. Congress.
Representative Joe Wilson on Thursday submitted House Resolution 612 which recognizes and reaffirms the importance of the South Korea-U.S. relationship forged since the establishment of South Korea in 1948.
The resolution reaffirms the alliance as a linchpin of security, stability and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
The resolution also reconfirms U.S. support for South Korean forces and reiterates that the U.S. presence in South Korea should not be discussed in any potential negotiation with the North.
In particular, the resolution said that the U.S., South Korea and the international community are ready to provide a bright future for the North if it goes in the right direction.
