JCS Chiefs of S. Korea, US Discuss N. Korea's Missile Launch

Top military leaders of South Korea and the U.S. have discussed joint responses to North Korea’s latest missile provocation.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) said that JCS Chairman Jeong Kyeong-doo talked with his American counterpart Joseph Dunford on the phone for around 20 minutes on Wednesday morning to discuss close bilateral coordination in response to the North’s launch of a ballistic missile early in the day.
They strongly denounced the North’s missile launch, calling it a blatant challenge to the UN Security Council resolutions and a provocative act that threatens the peace of the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
Jeong emphasized the necessity of active responses to deter the North's additional provocations such as the deployment of intelligence surveillance assets of South Korea and the U.S.
Dunford said Washington will seek to restrain the North’s provocations based on an ironclad alliance with Seoul and do its utmost to safeguard the peace and security of its allies.
