N. Korea Agrees to Regular Communication with UN

Upon the visit of UN political affairs chief Jeffrey Feltman, North Korean state media reported that the North has agreed with the United Nations to hold regular communication on various levels.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korea and the UN Secretariat agreed the recent visit served to deepen mutual understanding and the two sides agreed to regularize such contacts and communication.

In the report, the news agency also criticized the largest ever South Korea-U.S. aerial exercises, saying the U.S. had revealed its scheme to make a preemptive nuclear strike.

It said the situation on the Korean Peninsula was entirely due to U.S. hostile policy and its nuclear threats.

Meanwhile, the North said the UN Secretariat expressed concern over the situation on the peninsula and willingness to play its part to ease Korea tensions based on the spirit of the UN Charter which calls for global peace and security.

Feltman arrived in Pyongyang Tuesday and met with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho and other senior officials.

He also visited a children's food factory and hospitals in Pyongyang on his trip.
