Seoul Assesses Tillerson's Remark on Unconditional Meeting with N. Korea
South Korean Presidential Spokesman Park Soo-hyun issued a statement Wednesday welcoming U.S. State Secretary Rex Tillerson's willingness to sit down with and talk to North Korea without preconditions.
The top office points out Seoul and Washington have constantly urged Pyongyang to return to the table for talks, adding they have closely discussed with each other on various ways to make it happen.
It also explained that the alliance’s stance is that various contacts with the North are possible as long as they can help achieve the goal of peaceful and complete disarmament of the North’s nuclear program.
