United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says he is willing to visit North Korea if it helps resolve the current crisis. 

Japan's NHK reported on Thursday that the UN chief made the remark during a news conference in Tokyo, when asked if he would be willing to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. 

The UN chief said that he is ready to go anywhere at any time when it is useful but he's not aiming just to be in the cameras of the television.

Guterres said that he is available, but he can only be effective when both parties accept the UN's mediation. 

He also stressed that dialogue must have an objective and the UN 's objective is to achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in a peaceful manner.
