Japan Expands Evacuation Facilities against N. Korean Missiles

Japan's central government is calling on regional governments to join efforts to strengthen preparedness against possible North Korean missile attacks.
According to Japanese public broadcaster NHK on Tuesday, the Cabinet decided to revise the basic guidelines regarding the protection of the public, including evacuation procedures in the event Japan comes under attack.
Under the new guidelines, regional governments in rural areas as well as big cities will have to designate emergency shelters.
The revised guidelines are aimed at enhancing cooperation between the central government and the regional governments in case Japanese citizens need to evacuate to safe areas at a moment's notice.
