Tillerson: US Can't Talk Unless N. Korea is Ready to Talk

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says his country cannot talk unless North Korea is ready to talk.

Reuters said that Tillerson made the remark on Tuesday after meeting with Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland in Ottawa on the North Korean nuclear crisis.

Tillerson stressed that the pressure campaign on North Korea would not abate until the country agreed to give up its nuclear ambitions.

He said that what's important for North Korea to know is that this pressure campaign will not abate, and the U.S. will not be rolling any of it back, it will only be intensified as time goes by.

Tillerson, however, said the U.S. president's policy on North Korea is diplomatic pressure, reaffirming that diplomacy is a top priority.

He said that the U.S. and Canada would co-host a foreign ministers meeting in Vancouver in January to demonstrate international solidarity against North Korea's nuclear and missile threats.
