S. Korean Data: N. Korean Grain Production Falls 2% from 2016

North Korea’s grain production may have declined by two percent from last year.
That's according to new data estimates from the South Korean state-run Rural Development Administration announced Wednesday.
Researchers used satellite imagery, weather data and basic presumptions of fertilizer supply to come up with its conclusions. They estimate the North produced four-point-71 million tons of grain this year, down by 100-thousand tons from last year.
Rice made up the largest chunk at two-point-19 million tons, followed by corn at one-point-67 million tons and potatoes at 530-thousand tons.
