China: Inter-Korean Communication Will Help Denuclearization
China has welcomed the resumed communication between Seoul and Pyongyang, saying it will help denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and defuse tension in the region.
During a regular briefing on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said Beijing is noting that positive change is taking place on the peninsula now with South and North Korea actively engaging each other.
He said improving the inter-Korean relationship through dialogue is in the fundamental interests of Seoul and Pyongyang.
He added that the latest development will also contribute to peace and stability in the region.
