Unification Ministry: N. Korea Accepts Dialogue Proposal
North Korea has accepted South Korea’s proposal to hold talks next Tuesday.
Unification Ministry Spokesman Baik Tae-hyun said in a news briefing on Friday that the North said yes to Seoul's offer for talks in a message sent at around 10:16 a.m.
Baik said the message stated that the topic of discussions would be the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games and ways to improve inter-Korean ties.
The spokesman said the message was sent under the name of Ri Son-gwon, chairman of the North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and addressed to South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon.
Baik said the two Koreas decided to go over details of the proposed talks in the form of exchanging documents.
