Moon Vows Best Effort for Inter-Korean Ties, Peace

President Moon Jae-in says he will do his best this year to create a momentum for peace on the Korean Peninsula and improve inter-Korean ties.
Moon made the remark during a luncheon meeting with the executives of the Korean Senior Citizens Association invited to the presidential office Friday.
The president said he will also work hard to make the PyeongChang Winter Olympics an Olympics of peace, noting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s remark that he is willing to send a delegation to the PyeongChang Games.
Moon said that he knows he should not hastily judge on the North’s intention or have high expectations of the inter-Korean relationship, but still emphasized his will to lay the groundwork for resolving the North Korean nuclear issue and bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula.
He said the PyeongChang Games will also be a chance to promote South Korea’s development over the past 30 years since the Seoul Olympics.
