ICG: War on Korean Peninsula Seen as Most Ominous Threat for 2018

The International Crisis Group(ICG) says nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula is one of the most ominous threats for the world this year.
In an article entitled, “10 Conflicts to Watch in 2018,” the head of the nongovernmental organization, Robert Malley, issued a strong warning against a possible nuclear war and the growing confrontation between the United States and Iran.
Malley claimed the North's nuclear and missile provocations and the U.S.' bellicose rhetoric have raised the possibility of war to the highest levels seen in recent history.
He also pointed out that Washington's demand for Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear program is unrealistic without “serious diplomatic engagement or reciprocal concessions.”
As an “incremental solution” to lower the threat of war in the region, he suggested the North suspend missile tests before it crosses what the White House views as a "red line," while the U.S. should reduce provocative military exercises against the regime.
