US May Include Ivanka Trump in Delegation to PyeongChang

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering sending his daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics as part of a high-level U.S. delegation to the games.

Reuters reported Saturday that a senior government official said the president’s daughter was being considered for the delegation but the White House has not yet confirmed the report.

On Thursday, the U.S. president agreed to delay the joint South Korea-U.S. military drills until after the Olympics in a phone call with President Moon Jae-in.

He also reaffirmed Washington's plan to send a high-level delegation to the Winter Games that will include someone from his family.

Vice President Mike Pence is also reportedly being considered for the delegation.

The Trump administration is expected to announce the members of its delegation soon.

There is speculation that if North Korea sends leader Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-jong or top official Choe Ryong-hae to the games, there could be an encounter between the North Korean delegate and Ivanka on the sidelines of the games.
