Unification Minister: Dialogue with N. Korea to Make Olympics Peace Festival

South Korea's chief delegate for inter-Korean talks says that the delegation will calmly engage in dialogue with North Korea to make the PyeongChang Winter Olympics a peace festival.
Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon made the remark on Tuesday morning to reporters before departing for the the Peace House in Panmunjeom on the South Korean side of the border.
Cho said that the two sides will discuss North Korea's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics and ways to improve cross-border relations.
The minister said that the delegation will work to make the PyeongChang Games and the Paralympics a "peace festival" and help it serve as the first step toward an improvement in inter-Korean relations.
He added that to that end, the delegation will not rush and engage in the talks in a calm manner.
He also noted that domestic and international attention on the talks is very high since inter-Korean relations remained frozen for a long time and the talks are the first inter-Korean dialogue under the Moon Jae-in government.
