Xi Urges Continuing Momentum of Easing Tensions on Peninsula

Chinese President Xi Jinping held phone talks with U.S. President Donald Trump and urged joint efforts for the continued easing of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
In the phone conversation Tuesday, the Chinese leader said that some positive changes were occurring in the situation on the peninsula.
He called for continuing the momentum of alleviating tensions which he said does not come by easily. He also called for the joint efforts of concerned parties to foster an environment aimed at resuming dialogue.
President Xi said that denuclearizing and maintaining peace on the Korean Peninsula is in the common interest of related nations, and stressed that it's very important for the international community to be united on this issue.
Meanwhile, President Trump said the U.S. also values the role China plays in Korean Peninsula affairs and expressed hope to strengthen communication and cooperation with Beijing.
