The International Olympic Committee(IOC) announced on Friday that its President Thomas Bach is currently visiting North Korea for discussions on the country's participation in future Olympic Games.

The IOC posted on its Web site that Bach and his delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday and will leave Saturday morning.

Upon arrival in Pyongyang, Bach was greeted by North Korean IOC member Chang Ung and Sports Minister Kim Il-kuk.

It's unknown whether Bach will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his three-day trip.

The IOC said that Bach's visit is "part of the close cooperation and consultations the IOC enjoys with all of the 206 national Olympic committees."

It added that the discussions will focus on the further development of sport in North Korea after the successful participation of athletes at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.
