N. Korea Proposes Resumption of Inter-Korean Literary Exchanges

North Korea is said to have proposed resuming literary exchanges with South Korea during his recent visit to Pyongyang leading a delegation from Seoul.

According to South Korea's Culture Ministry and members of the South Korean art troupe that performed in the North recently, Culture Minister Do Jong-hwan spoke with An Tong-chun, the head of the North’s literature and art general league, during a dinner the North hosted for the South Koreans on Tuesday.

During their encounter, An was known to have proposed the two Koreas resume a stalled joint project to create a literary magazine for writers of both Koreas, named Tongil Munhak or Unification Literature.

However, an official of the ministry said the discussions did not go deep enough to discuss details about the project or other issues regarding the resumption of literary exchanges.
