Nearly 3,000 Journalists Seek to Cover Inter-Korean Summit

The number of reporters both at home and abroad seeking accreditation to cover the upcoming inter-Korean summit is twice as large as that for the previous summit.
The preparation committee for the 2018 inter-Korean summit said in a press release on Wednesday that a total of two-thousand-833 reporters, including one-thousand-975 from 168 South Korean media outlets, registered for the April 27th event during an eight-day registration period that began on Monday of last week.
Around 850 foreign journalists accredited to cover the forthcoming summit belong to 180 media outlets based in 34 countries, including 15 countries which did not send press corps to the 2007 inter-Korean summit such as Canada, Iran, Thailand, India and Austria.
The number of press personnel accredited to cover the first inter-Korean summit in 2000 and the second in 2007 was one-thousand-315 and one-thousand-392, respectively.
