Trump Vows to Make Meeting with Kim a 'Worldwide Success'

U.S. President Donald Trump says the United States will do "everything possible" to make his upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un a "worldwide success."

Trump made the comment on Wednesday during a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after summit talks in Florida.

Trump said that he will meet with Kim in a few weeks to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, which will be a great thing for the regime and the world.

He also expressed his hope to see the day when the two Koreas can live together in "safety, prosperity and peace," adding the U.S. will be working very hard.

However, Trump said he will "respectfully leave" the meeting if he starts to feel it won’t be fruitful.

He vowed not to repeat the mistakes of past administrations regarding North Korea issues, saying that the U.S. maximum pressure campaign against Pyongyang will continue until the North abandons its nuclear weapons.
