Two Koreas to Rehearse Historic Summit at Panmunjeom

South and North Korea are planning to hold separate rehearsals of the inter-Korean summit at the truce village of Panmunjeom where the historic meeting will be held next Friday.
Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said in a media briefing on Thursday that the South Korean side will conduct two rehearsals led by the preparation committee for the summit.
He said the first rehearsal to be held on Tuesday afternoon will go through all the scheduled events of the summit while the second one on Thursday will be held in more detail with more participants.
He said a North Korean delegation will visit the summit venue on Tuesday or Wednesday and rehearse the summit in the same manner as the South.
The spokesman said the South Korean government will also open a situation room on the third floor of the Freedom House on the southern side of Panmunjeom on Tuesday to help manage the summit-related events, adding officials from the presidential office and related ministries will work together there.
He said the government will open another situation room at KINTEX exhibition hall in Ilsan District in Goyang City northwest of Seoul on Tuesday.
