US, Japan Welcome N. Korea's Decision to Close Nuclear Facility

U.S. President Donald Trump has welcomed North Korea's decision to halt nuclear tests and shut down its nuclear test site.
About an hour after the North revealed its decision on Saturday, Trump wrote on Twitter that the announcement is "good news for North Korea and the world," calling it "big progress." He added that he looks forward to the summit with North Korea.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also welcomed North Korea's decision but maintained cautious about its future direction.
Abe told reporters in Tokyo that he sees it as a "forward motion," but will keep a close eye on whether the decision will lead to complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.
