Moon: N. Korea's Actions Indicate 'Green Light' for Summit Success

President Moon Jae-in says North Korea's decision to freeze its nuclear and missile testing is an important step toward complete denuclearization, and a green light that raises the possibility of the inter-Korean summit and the North-U.S. summit becoming successes.
Moon made the remarks on Monday during a meeting of his top aides at the presidential office.
He said that the North's announcement that it would freeze its nuclear testing and shut down its Punggye-ri nuclear test site is a sincere measure ahead of the country's upcoming summits with the South and the U.S., adding that he highly regards the move.
He said the entire world is welcoming this forward-looking measure and that U.S. President Donald Trump assessed it as a big development.
He added that the United Nations chief and leaders from China, Russia and Japan also regard the move as a positive development.
Moon said if the North goes down the path of complete denuclearization, beginning with a nuclear test freeze, it could be guaranteed a bright future.
He stressed that the North's positive steps are giving rise to anticipation that the denuclearization process will gain further speed.
