Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha posted a video in English on the Foreign Ministry's Twitter page on Monday, saying the upcoming inter-Korean and North Korea-U.S. summit could bring about lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

She said the top leaders of the two Koreas will meet for a day-long summit on April 27th, the first time in the 70 year division of the peninsula for the top leader of the North to set foot south of the Military Demarcation Line.

She added it's only the third summit between the two sides following ones in 2000 and 2007. 

The minister said that furthermore, the first-ever summit meeting between the United States and North Korea is also in the making.  

She said these are truly historic events that could bring about lasting peace on the peninsula, and that this would also mean a huge step forward for world peace.
