Trump Praises Kim Jong-un as Very Open, Honorable
U.S. President Donald Trump says that denuclearization means that North Korea gets rid of its nuclear weapons.
Trump made the remark on Tuesday during a joint press conference after talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House.
According to AFP, Trump said that it would be easy for him to make a simple deal and declare victory but he doesn't want to do that, adding he wants the North to remove its nuclear weapons.
He also said that he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un very soon to seek peace and safety for the Korean Peninsula and the world.
However, he stressed that he won't repeat the mistakes of the past administrations, adding the maximum pressure campaign will continue.
At the start of talks with the French leader, Trump said that Washington and Pyongyang have been having "very good" discussions, praising Kim for being "very open" and "very honorable."
Regarding the prospect of his meeting with Kim, Trump said that maybe it'll be wonderful, maybe it won't.
He said that if it's not going to be fair and reasonable and good, he will leave the table, unlike past administrations, but he thinks the U.S. has a chance of doing something very special with respect to North Korea, which will be good for them, good for the U.S. and good for everybody.
