Pope Francis Wishes for Success of Inter-Korean Summit

Pope Francis has offered his wishes for a successful inter-Korean summit, saying it will be a good chance to bring reconciliation to the Korean Peninsula.
The pontiff mentioned the upcoming historic meeting between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his weekly general audience on Wednesday in front of Saint Peter’s Square at the Vatican.
He said the summit will be a good opportunity to start transparent dialogue and a concrete path of reconciliation and a newfound fraternity in order to guarantee peace on the Korean Peninsula and the whole world.
The pope also said he is praying for Koreans who ardently want peace, adding the entire Roman Catholic Church will be close to them.
The Holy See, he explained, supports and encourages all useful and sincere initiatives to build a better future in the name of encounter and friendship among peoples.
Pope Francis also asked those with direct political responsibility for the inter-Korean summit to have courage that comes from hope and become “artisans” of peace, and urged them to continue, with confidence, the path undertaken for the good of all.
