Middle Eastern Media Covers Inter-Korean Summit with Significance

Media outlets in the Middle East have shown keen interest in the inter-Korean summit.
Major newspapers in the region covered the event on their front pages, calling it a historic meeting that could usher in lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based television news channel, said a landmark summit took place very smoothly, and the U.S. government will feel confident about its upcoming summit with the North.
Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA said the summit’s venue, the truce of village of Panmunjeom, has been transformed from a symbol of division into a symbol of peace.
It also stressed some other significant elements of the summit, saying it is the first time a North Korean leader set foot in the South, and also the first inter-Korean summit to be held in the South.
