Trump Says Korean War Will End

U.S. President Donald Trump said the Korean War will end while commenting on a summit between the two Koreas.
His tweet “KOREAN WAR TO END!” was a response to the landmark meeting between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the truce village of Panmunjeom on Friday where they agreed to put an official end to the three-year war that ended in an armistice not in a peace treaty.
Trump also said in the message that the U.S. and Americans should be proud of “what is now taking place in Korea!” referring to the one-day summit that was held at the Peace House on the southern side of Panmunjeom.
His remark is interpreted as a nod to the Korean leaders’ joint agreement to end the war and turn the armistice into a peace treaty through a trilateral summit involving the U.S. or a four-way summit including China.
In an earlier tweet, Trump welcomed the beginning of the inter-Korean summit, adding “good things are happening, but only time will tell.”
