Regional neighbors welcomed and expressed anticipation over the inter-Korean summit declaration announced by South and North Korean leaders on Friday.

China has deemed the summit agreement a success.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said the positive outcome of the summit will contribute to inter-Korean reconciliation and cooperation, peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the political resolution of the peninsula issue.

He added that Beijing welcomes and congratulates the outcome.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also welcomed the two Korean leaders holding sincere dialogue on denuclearization as well as progress in moves to resolve various issues related to North Korea.

He said he strongly expects Pyongyang to carry out concrete action.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Russia very positively assesses the inter-Korean summit itself and its outcome.
