Bolton: US Considering 'Libya Model' for N. Korea

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton says that the U.S. has the “Libya model” in mind for its future nuclear deal with North Korea, a process that eventually led to the death of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
Bolton told an interview with Fox News on Sunday that Washington has very much in mind the Libya model from 2003, 2004, although North Korea is clearly different from Libya.
He said that in the case of Libya, the U.S. sought the full, complete and total disclosure of everything related to their nuclear weapons program, with full international verification. He added that there are obviously differences, noting the Libyan program was much smaller.
Bolton stressed that following the case of Libya, verification by Americans and other inspectors could be very important in a deal with North Korea.
He added that the Washington-Pyongyang summit will discuss denuclearization as well as the North's ballistic missiles, chemical and biological weapons programs, detained Americans and Japanese abductees.
